The third Saturday of the last summer month is Stray Animal Day, which this year fell on August 20. This holiday was created as an excellent opportunity to focus public attention on the problems of cats, dogs, and other pets left without owners.
The holiday was first celebrated around the world in 1992. Since then, every year in different countries it helps our small tailed brothers find their new owners.
On this day, according to a good tradition, various informational and educational events are held, and volunteers collect funds for homeless animal shelters. People who care come to the shelters to feed the animals, play with them, walk the dogs or take one of the abandoned pets home.
