In Turkmenistan, high school graduates were legally granted a deferment from the army

High school graduates of Turkmenistan will receive a one-time deferment of conscription for admission to universities and colleges. The corresponding change was made to the Law of Turkmenistan "On state youth policy. The new version of the law was published today in the Turkmenistan newspaper.

According to Article 26 of the Law, a temporary deferment is granted to young men who graduated from general educational institutions or special educational institutions "with the condition of creating a one-time opportunity to participate in entrance examinations at institutions of higher and secondary vocational education.

18-year-old school leavers will have the right to a deferment from the army until the beginning of the next draft. Thus, if they pass their exams positively, young men can continue their studies in higher education or colleges.

Recall that Turkmenistan carried out a school education reform in 2013. In accordance with the reform, 10-year school education was replaced by 12-year education.
