A meeting of special representatives on Afghanistan organized by the UN Secretary General was held in Qatar from 1 to 2 May this year. This is reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev. The current military and political situation in Afghanistan and the organization of humanitarian aid were on the agenda of the meeting.
The sides agreed to hold regular meetings on Afghanistan to help normalize the situation in the country. In accordance with the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which was fully supported by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan actively supports the Afghan people through consistent activities in this direction and based on the principles of humanism.
The meetings were attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UN Secretary General for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific Khaled Khiari.
