"Star pupil": Oleg Kononenko's classmates are proud of the Hero's flight

Last week, on September 22, 2023, Hero of Turkmenistan and Hero of the Russian Federation cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko congratulated honored President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov on his birthday from aboard the International Space Station. This event caused a great response among Oleg Dmitrievich's classmates and friends in Turkmenistan.

Arzuw News correspondent managed to talk to Murad Khudainazarov and Rimma Seyitmuradova, who studied together with the future cosmonaut at secondary school No15 in Turkmenabad. 

We are very happy that our classmate, now Hero of Russia and Hero of Turkmenistan, does not forget his homeland and congratulates the head of our state. This is a great honor for all of us"Murad Khudaynazarov, a close friend and classmate of Oleg Dmitrievich, shared.

According to his classmates, Oleg Kononenko was characterized by curiosity and diligence from childhood. He studied well, especially liked exact sciences, dreamed of space. He was engaged in sports, played volleyball, participated in the social life of the school. 

We always knew that Oleg would achieve great heights in life. He is a very goal-oriented person with a broad outlook. We are proud of him and wish him new success in space exploration!"Rimma Seyitmuradova noted.

In his video message from the ISS to the President of Turkmenistan Oleg Kononenko said that he took into space the flag of the republic, the portrait of the head of state and the book of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about the new city of Arkadag. The cosmonaut wished the President family happiness, prosperity and success in leading the country.

Thus, the flight of the first Turkmen cosmonaut makes his compatriots very proud and gives a new impetus to the development of the space industry of Turkmenistan. The story of Oleg Kononenko proves that childhood dreams come true if one pursues them purposefully and persistently.
