Representatives of Turkmenistan and Gagauzia met online to discuss the prospects for enhancing partnership relations. The Turkmen side was represented by Toyli Ataev, Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Ukraine. The head of the Gagauz autonomy, Irina Vlah, spoke on behalf of Gagauzia.
The leader of Gagauzia highlighted the linguistic and cultural similarities between the two countries, stressing that mutual cooperation in the humanitarian sphere has long been established between them. Irina Vlah expressed interest in making use of all available potential. The Gagauz autonomy intends to intensify the existing contacts and form long-term economic ties in order to attract more investments into the economy. The developing industrial areas of Gagauzia will be taken into account.
The head of the autonomy specifically thanked Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov for his support of the project to build a kindergarten in Chishmikioi village. The project was successfully implemented - the structure was put into operation in 2017.
In the online conversation, politicians addressed the economic hardship triggered by the global pandemic.
The Turkmen diplomat expressed the state's interest in continuing to build up bilateral partnership with Gagauzia.
