The Embassy of Afghanistan in Turkmenistan organized a briefing on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan. The event was held online.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev, the head of the Afghan government delegation to the peace talks Mohammad Masum Stanikzai, the head of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan Khan Wali Khan Basharmal. Delegates of the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan were also invited to attend the event.
During the briefing, those present expressed their views on the current situation in Afghanistan, as well as the prospects for further progress toward a peaceful settlement of the situation in the Republic. The role of other countries of the region and the international community in this process was also discussed. The need to consolidate common efforts to develop a unified position on fundamental issues related to these activities was emphasized.
The briefing participants noted Turkmenistan's great merit in creating conditions conducive to a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan. By actively using its peacekeeping potential, the neutral neighboring state is playing an important constructive role in this process.
