Construction of new border facilities between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan is planned

July 18, 2023 Kazakhstan officials announced the start of construction of new pedestrian paths, recreation areas and border facilities on the border of the two countries. The information is reported by Orient portal with reference to the press service of the akimat of Karakiyan district of Mangistau region of Kazakhstan.

The centerpiece of the KZT6 billion project is the new Temir Baba border crossing point, which is scheduled to open in July 2024. The crossing point will include two new wells and a desalination plant to provide water, as there is currently only one well in the area for technical use.

In addition, two kilometers of pedestrian paths will be constructed along a section of the boundary, providing new recreational opportunities in the region.

The new border post and facilities are expected to facilitate movement and trade between the two countries, enhance security, and strengthen ties between the sister nations and improve the lives of people living along the border.
