Representatives of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran met from July 1 to 3 this year to discuss topical issues of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the gas industry. It is reported Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
As a result of negotiations between the Turkmen and Iranian sides held in Ashgabat, a sale and purchase agreement was concluded. In accordance with the document, Turkmen natural gas will be supplied to Iraq in the amount of up to 10 billion cubic meters per year through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran through the SWAP system. It was noted that the positive experience of gas supplies to Iran and through Iran to other countries contributes to the development of bilateral partnership in the gas sector.
In order to expand the gas infrastructure, Iranian companies will carry out works on laying 125 km of gas pipeline on the territory of Turkmenistan. In addition, work will be carried out on the construction of 3 gas compressor stations to ensure the possibility of additional supplies of Turkmen gas to Iran.
