The keel laying ceremony of the first dry cargo ship was held in Turkmenistan on January 6, 2025. The construction will be carried out at the Balkan shipyard. This is reported by the online edition SNG.Today.
The start of the construction process is in accordance with the agreement signed in September 2023 with Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd from South Korea. According to the agreement, the parties came to an agreement on the joint construction of 2 dry cargo ships with a carrying capacity of 6100 tons. In November last year, the first dry cargo units were delivered to the construction site.
Turkmenistan is actively working to modernize its river and sea fleet to ensure efficient domestic and foreign trade.
