President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov yesterday met with Chairman of the Board of South Korea's Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Jong Won-ju to discuss the realization of a large industrial project.
The head of the Korean company congratulated the Turkmen leader on the second anniversary of the opening of Arkadag city and conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung.
The central topic of the talks was the contract signed between the State Concern "Türkmenhi̇mi̇ýa" and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. for the construction of a fertilizer production complex at the chemical plant in Turkmenabat. Jong Won-ju confirmed the company's readiness to strictly fulfill all contractual obligations.
President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the special importance Turkmenistan attaches to strengthening relations with the Republic of Korea based on the principles of mutual understanding, respect and trust. He noted that Korean companies have been successfully implementing large-scale projects in the country's oil and gas and chemical industries for many years.
The chemical industry is one of the dynamically developing sectors of the Turkmen economy focused on the production of products for both the domestic market and export. The head of state expressed confidence in further expansion of productive mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
