Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held telephone talks with his counterpart from the Republic of Niger Bakary Yau Sangare yesterday, during which the two sides discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation.
The heads of foreign ministries of the two countries considered opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Special attention was paid to the need to establish regular contacts between the diplomatic services of Turkmenistan and Niger.
During the conversation, the Ministers noted the similarity of their countries' positions on key issues on the international agenda. This creates a favorable basis for further strengthening of relations between the states.
A separate item of the talks was the preparation for the Third Conference of Landlocked Countries to be held in Turkmenistan in August this year. The sides discussed organizational aspects of the upcoming international event.
The telephone conversation between the diplomats confirmed mutual interest in the development of Turkmen-Nigerian relations and coordination of efforts in the international arena.
