Avaza, August 5 - Arzuw.news. The Civil Society Forum within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries has started its work in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza". This is reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.
The event is being held for the first time in the history of LLDC conferences and is aimed at developing solutions for the implementation of the Avaza Action Agenda. The forum is attended by UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the National Trade Union Center and other dignitaries.
The UN Under-Secretary-General emphasized that the Awazi Agenda for Action is a transformational roadmap to address the challenges of landlocked developing countries due to their geographical location. ECOSOC President Lok Bahadur Thapa called on governments, the private sector, UN entities and civil society to join forces to implement the program.
The participants noted Turkmenistan's active participation under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in expanding partnerships in logistics systems and transport and transit corridors. Public organizations successfully operate in the country: the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund, the Makhtumkuli Youth Organization and the Women's Union with more than one million members.
During the thematic session on socially oriented structural transformation and environmental sustainability, participants discussed priority tasks and proposals for the Declaration of Civil Society Organizations. Special attention was paid to the role of civil society in promoting green technologies, climate change resilience and inclusive initiatives.
