President of Turkmenistan addresses UN plenary session

The President of Turkmenistan addressed the plenary session of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. In his speech, the Turkmen leader said that modern challenges require strengthening multilateral cooperation. Based on the status of permanent neutrality, Turkmenistan will present a draft resolution on the role of neutrality in maintaining peace and security. Also within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Confidence, proclaimed on the initiative of Ashgabat, a forum is planned and the idea of holding a world summit to develop a Code of International Confidence has been put forward. Other key initiatives were also announced. These included the proclamation of a UN Decade on Sustainable Transport, the creation of a World Platform for Digital Inclusion and the establishment of a Regional Center to Combat Desertification in Central Asia. In addition, Turkmenistan plans to promote the Caspian Environment Initiative and proposed the establishment of an "International Day of Multilingual Diplomacy.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of cooperation with the UN, the President initiated the declaration of 2028 as the Year of International Law. In conclusion, he thanked the international community for recognizing Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality 30 years ago and assured of the country's commitment to the undertaken obligations.
