President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the second meeting of heads of state in the "Central Asia - Russia" format, emphasized the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between the countries of Central Asia and Russia, based on historical, cultural and economic ties, the news agency "Westiabad".
With gratitude, the President of Turkmenistan noted the hospitality of Tajikistan's leader Emomali Rakhmon and emphasized that regular meetings in this format bring cooperation to a systemic level. The head of state noted centuries-old ties between Central Asia and Russia, which create a solid basis for expanding cooperation in various spheres.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid special attention to issues of security and stability in the region, including joint work on new challenges - information and biological security, as well as strengthening social harmony. The President of Turkmenistan called for active coordination in international organizations, primarily in the UN, to protect the principles of international law and strengthen global security.
In the economic sphere, the President of Turkmenistan highlighted the development of transport and energy infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of the North-South international transport corridor along the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea and the use of the potential of the Turkmenbashi seaport to expand regional ties with Russia.
The head of state dwelt separately on energy and "green" economy, proposing to deepen cooperation in the electric power industry, renewable energy sources and innovative technologies, emphasizing Turkmenistan's readiness for practical steps.
Other priorities include the environmental agenda: preserving the Caspian Sea and saving the Aral Sea, which, according to the President, should become a permanent element of the six-party interaction.
At the end of his speech, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War as a symbol of unity of the peoples of the region and emphasized the importance of humanitarian and educational cooperation to strengthen friendship between the countries of Central Asia and Russia.
The President of Turkmenistan reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further develop cooperation in the Central Asia-Russia format, calling it a demanded and promising instrument of regional interaction.
