Avaza, August 6 - Arzuw.news. Yesterday, high-ranking representatives of five Caspian littoral states met in the Avaza National Tourist Zone to discuss cooperation in the Caspian Sea. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan. The central topics of the talks were ecological security, environmental protection and preservation of the Caspian Sea biodiversity.
The meeting participants paid special attention to the problem of shoaling of the Caspian Sea and discussed possible approaches to its solution. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov emphasized the need to coordinate interaction in accordance with the decisions of the Summits of the Heads of the Caspian littoral states.
The meeting noted Turkmenistan's active position in addressing environmental issues in the region. The participants discussed the implementation of the Caspian Environmental Initiative, which was presented by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
The foreign delegations expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for organizing the high-level meeting and reaffirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue on Caspian issues.
