The conference "Seismic Risk and World Experience" was held in the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan

The Institute of Seismology and Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan held a scientific-theoretical conference on "Seismic risk and world experience" dedicated to the devastating Ashgabat earthquake of 1948. This was reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The forum was attended by representatives of the Research Institute of Earthquake Resistant Construction of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan, employees of the Department of Coordination of Construction Works of the Ashgabat City Administration, specialists of the Department of Digital Economy Development of the Agency "Türkmenaragatnaşyk", employees of the Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of ANT. The central theme of the forum was the topical aspects of modern urban development taking into account seismic risks.

Among the speakers was seismologist Jun Matsuo, a member of the delegation of experts of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Turkmenistan, who shared Japan's experience in dealing with the consequences of earthquakes.
