Ashgabat, August 6 - Arzuw.news. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza". The talks took place yesterday within the framework of the Kazakh leader's participation in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of friendly relations and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. Tokayev expressed gratitude for the hospitality and noted the importance of holding the UN international conference on Turkmen soil.
The Presidents noted the convergence of positions on key regional and global issues. Strengthening peace and stability, sustainable energy, development of transport communications, rational use of water resources, ecology and climate issues were named among the priority areas.
The leaders paid special attention to bilateral cooperation in trade and economy, energy and transportation. The sides noted the dynamic nature of mutual trade turnover and significant potential for expanding trade cooperation.
Following the talks, the presidents expressed confidence that the meeting would give a new impetus to strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
