The Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted an international conference devoted to cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN, during which the message of the UN Secretary-General to its participants was read out. The event was held in honor of the 29th anniversary of Turkmenistan's membership in the Organization.
Heads and delegates of ministries, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations operating in Turkmenistan, university leaders, company delegates, and journalists attended the event. Heads and delegates of UN Special Agencies were able to participate in the conference via video link.
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in the Central Asian region, Natalia Herman, read out a message from UN Secretary General António Guterres. In his message, the head of the organization congratulated Turkmenistan on its 29th anniversary of membership in the UN, emphasizing its important active and constructive role as a member state. Through its activities, the country contributes to achieving the goals of the Organization in the region, developing international and regional partnerships, and promoting the principles of preventive diplomacy.
Emphasizing the status of permanent neutrality that Turkmenistan has maintained throughout its independence, the UN Secretary General thanked the country for all its many initiatives aimed at maintaining peace, security and achieving progress and prosperity.
