The Department of Education, Science and Culture of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat celebrated International Chess Day. This is reported by the Internet edition CentralAsia.news.
The event was attended by experienced chess players and young lovers of this game. Grandmaster and chess champion of Turkmenistan Mergen Kakabaev held a simultaneous game session with ten young chess players at once.
A training session "Learn to play chess in 30 minutes" was held for young participants. The Embassy also organized an exhibition with photos and biographies of outstanding chess players - Mikhail Botvinnik, Tashli Taylyev, Anatoly Karpov, Vladimir Kramnik and Alexander Alekhine.
Second Secretary of the Russian Embassy Kirill Voronkov noted that the event will help strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and Turkmenistan.
