Together with other Caspian littoral states, Turkmenistan has extended the moratorium for 2025, prohibiting commercial fishing of sturgeon. This is reported by the Internet publication "Westiabad."
This decision was made by representatives of five Caspian countries during the 8th session of the Commission for the Conservation and Rational Use of Aquatic Bioresources of the Caspian Sea, which was held in Astrakhan.
Under the moratorium, sturgeon fishing is allowed only for artificial reproduction and research purposes. Also next year, no export quotas will be set for sturgeon caviar and sturgeon fish.
Recall that the Commission for the Conservation of Natural Resources of the Caspian Sea was established in 2014 on the basis of an agreement signed in Astrakhan.
