TESC-2025 international conference on environmental technologies in the oil and gas industry held in Turkmenistan

New technologies and environmental aspects in the development of hydrocarbon resources

The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Ecological Aspects of the Implementation of Innovative Technologies in the Development of Hydrocarbon Fields" (TESC-2025), which was held in a hybrid format, was completed at the Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern "Türkmengaz".

The event was organized by three key structures of the fuel and energy complex of the country: State Concerns "Türkmengaz", "Türkmennebit" and State Corporation "Türkmengeologiýa". The main objective of the conference was to expand the partnership between the Turkmen state bodies and leading energy corporations, international institutions and scientific community.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government, the leadership of industry ministries, heads of diplomatic missions, delegates of international organizations and experts of oil and gas companies.

The conference program included two main sessions. The first one was devoted to energy perspectives, modern technologies and environmental challenges in the development of hydrocarbon resources. The second session considered human capital as a key factor of environmental responsibility.

The discussions were attended by representatives of major international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, EBRD, as well as the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, IRENA, SPE and IEA. Corporate participants included PETRONAS, CNPC, Dragon Oil and Eni S.p.A.

Experts noted that Turkmenistan, under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is carrying out a large-scale modernization of the fuel and energy sector with a focus on environmental safety. Particular attention is paid to the transition to clean energy, which is a strategic priority for the country, which ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.

The participants discussed advanced methods of reducing methane and associated gas emissions, technologies for chemical utilization of acid gases for fertilizer production, as well as innovative solutions for working with the Darvaz gas crater. Projects for construction of gas processing complexes with modern equipment for processing hydrogen sulphide into sulphur were considered.

International experts shared their experience in developing fields with high carbon dioxide content and methods of minimizing harmful emissions. At the end of the conference the final document was adopted.
