Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and UN Regional Representative for Human Rights in Asia Richard Komend met. During the discussion, the sides discussed the implementation of previous commitments and the implementation of human rights conventions.
The UN commissioner and the Turkmen minister also discussed the main points of cooperation and exchanged views on certain documents of the organization.
Rashid Meredov thanked the UN representative for his support of Turkmen human rights institutions. He stressed that Turkmenistan plans to improve the institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman. For this purpose, relevant educational programs will be introduced at the state level.
The Turkmen side has indicated its interest in taking an active part in events that are significant for the UN and the world.
