Mohammad Fayyazi interviewed about Turkmenistan's election to the UNICEF Executive Board

UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Mohammad Fayyazi in an interview with the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" commented on the election of Turkmenistan as a member of the UNICEF Executive Board for the period 2024-2026.

Mr. Fayyazi described the structure, composition and objectives of UNICEF. He emphasized that the election of Turkmenistan to the Executive Board shows the country's commitment to achieving results for children around the world and the valuable contribution Turkmenistan has made in previous periods.

Fayyazi also noted Turkmenistan's achievements in the field of public health. He called the funding of the national immunization program a key achievement of the country in this area. Turkmenistan is certified as a polio-free country in 2022. The government also sponsors salt iodization and flour fortification.

In partnership with UNICEF, Turkmenistan supports programs on early child development, early intervention and nutrition. As Fayyazi noted, UNICEF, together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, has achieved successes in early learning and inclusive education.

Attention is paid to environmental issues, climate change awareness, and disaster risk reduction.

Fayyazi emphasized the importance of UNICEF's partnership with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and the Interdepartmental Commission on Human Rights on ensuring and protecting the rights of every child.
