Actors of the Makhtumkuli National Musical Drama Theater presented the play "Love and Suffering" to the participants of the IV International Festival "Theater Art of the Age of Happiness".
This is one of the versions of works by Arab poet Qais ibn al-Mulawwah and folk tales about the tragic love of Leyli and Majnun, widely known lovers of the East. The playwright of the play "Love and Suffering" is Govshutgeldy Danatarov, People's Writer of Turkmenistan. The director, Honored Art Worker of Turkmenistan Aynazar Batyrov managed to present a very touching story to the audience.
The role of Mejnun was played by Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Dovlet Berdyev, the role of Leyli was played by Gulnabad Abdullayeva. The actors conveyed the boundless affection for each other, which began in infancy: it is noticed that if one baby cries a lot, only the presence of another baby can calm him down.
However, because of the strife between the tribes, which were led by the fathers of the lovers, Majnun and Leyli were not destined to be united. Leyli's death is a protest against the evil and cruelty of those around them. The ballet scenes by choreographer Olga Vasilieva added a special note to the dramaturgy of the performance. Laconic, in the form of jewelry pendants, scenography by Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Batyr Beknazarov contributed to the spectacle of the performance.
The audience congratulated all the creators of the play with friendly applause. The director, playwright, and production designer came up to the stage to congratulate the actors. Together with bouquets of flowers, the participants of the performance received the Diploma and the Cup of the Festival.
