Representatives of Turkmenistan and OSCE discuss interethnic dialogue in Central Asia

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister and the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities held online talks. Rashid Meredov and Kairat Abdrakhmanov praised the high level of current interaction between Turkmenistan and the OSCE Department.

The sides analyzed ongoing and potential projects and reviewed the key points of Turkmenistan's policy in the inter-ethnic sphere. The parties emphasized that educational cooperation is one of the key vectors of bilateral partnership. They discussed the possibility of developing cooperation on the project "The educational program in Central Asia", aimed at promoting integration of different ethnic communities in Central Asia through increased educational attainment. In this direction was noted the importance of the signed in 2021. The importance of the signed in 2021 Memorandum on cooperation between the Turkmen Ministry of Education and the specialized Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on Linguistic and Cultural Diversity of Turkmenistan was noted in this area.

The Foreign Minister and the OSCE High Commissioner considered the main vectors of cooperation in the framework of the National Plan on Human Rights for 2021-2025.

The parties also exchanged views on holding expert meetings and forums aimed at preserving the diversity of ethnicities, cultures and religions and expanding intercultural dialogue.

The importance of the work of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in developing common initiatives was emphasized.
