The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy (UNRCCA) has announced a competition for young people in Turkmenistan and the Central Asian region to become Preventive Diplomacy Ambassadors. Young people who are Turkmen, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek and Afghani citizens, who have already turned 18 but are under 30, will be able to take part in the event. The competition is part of the Preventive Diplomacy Academy project, where young people can attend a series of online trainings, improve their public speaking skills and build leadership skills.
Once the training period is over, participants will join the Preventive Diplomacy Young Ambassadors Network for the Central Asian region and Afghanistan. This will enable them to participate in events held under the auspices of various UN entities.
The Academy of Preventive Diplomacy initiative of the UNRCCA is being implemented on the basis of the Youth Strategy approved until 2030, in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution on Youth, Peace and Security.
All applicants should fill out a questionnaire and write a motivational letter, either in English or Russian. The letter should answer a series of questions related to your hypothetical day job as UN Secretary-General (with specific examples) in preserving peace in your region. Candidates should also explain why they should be entrusted with the role of Ambassador for Preventive Diplomacy.
Applications are accepted until April 30, 2021 at aziz.kuliyev@un.org.
