The 57th International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where Turkmen schoolchildren won 4 medals, has ended. The competition was organized by the Lomonosov Moscow State University. This is reported in the online publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
Turkmenistan was represented at the international event by 4 schoolchildren - pupils of the Turkmenbashi S. Ashgabat Specialized General Education Boarding School. Each of the schoolchildren returned home with an award. The Turkmen pupils won 1 "silver" and 3 "bronze" medals.
School chemistry teacher Nazar Mammedov led the national team to the prize-winning places.
A total of 116 schoolchildren from 21 countries competed in the Olympiad.
Over the years, this event has become very popular among chemistry enthusiasts - the Mendeleev Olympiad is considered a prestigious intellectual competition among world-class schoolchildren.
