On November 27, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Mr. Jean Todt, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Road Safety, who arrived in our country to participate in the conference "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development - 2024", TDH reports.
It was noted that the UN highly appreciates cooperation with Turkmenistan, which implements the policy of positive neutrality. The guest conveyed to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people warm words of greetings and best wishes from UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
During the meeting, Mr. Jean Todt stressed that he recalls with special warmth the visit to Turkmenistan in 2013 at the invitation of Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the meeting with Hero-Arkadag.
Thanking the guest for his active participation in the forum "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development - 2024", the President expressed confidence that this international conference would provide an opportunity to discuss important vectors and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN Specialized Agency for Road Safety.
Noting that Turkmenistan's activities in the sphere of sustainable transport system and road safety are exemplary, Mr. Jean Todt stressed the importance of the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted on Turkmenistan's initiative to declare November 26 as the World Day of Sustainable Transport.
During the meeting, the sides expressed confidence that the partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN Specialized Agency for Road Safety will be further developed.
