Today, April 1, 2021, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The talks focused on bilateral partnership in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian segments.
Participants in the talks emphasized the fruitfulness of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. They discussed cooperation in the format of regional and global associations, including the UN, the OSCE, and the CIS.
Representatives of Turkmenistan and Russia exchanged views on Caspian issues, including the process of preparing for the Sixth Caspian Summit to be held in Turkmenistan. The sides discussed global and environmental security.
The foreign ministers considered the potential for intensifying bilateral dialogue in the health, scientific and educational spheres.
The talks resulted in the signing of a Turkmen-Russian government Memorandum of Understanding on Biological Security.
