On April 17, the Turkmen delegation, which arrived in Geneva for working meetings, took part in the ministerial talks of the participating countries of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia. The Turkmen delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov made proposals on further improvement of SPECA at the meeting, the importance of the initiative to establish the SPECA Secretariat was emphasized.
Turkmenistan advocated the formation of new financial sources necessary for the implementation of SPECA Programs. It was proposed to establish the SPECA Multipartner Transport Fund. The Turkmen delegation also advocated the preparation of a UN General Assembly resolution to mark the 25th anniversary of SPECA.
