Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov put forward proposals on the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU during a Cabinet meeting on March 23. This was reported by the State News Agency "Turkmenistan Today".
According to the action plan proposed by the Deputy Prime Minister, a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and the EU should be held in October, and a visit of the Majlis deputies to Brussels should take place in the second half of 2024. Visits of the EU Presidents to Turkmenistan are planned on a regular basis throughout the year.
Plans include the preparation of a Framework Agreement between Turkmenistan and the EU in the energy sector, the creation of an EU-CA transport coordination platform and new professional training programs.
Rashid Meredov put forward proposals to hold a Human Rights Dialogue in Ashgabat in the Turkmenistan-EU format and to start focused work on Turkmenistan's accession to the International Fund for Agricultural Development. It was also proposed to hold an International Forum on Food Security in Ashgabat jointly with FAO.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the proposals.
