President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe Carlos Manuel Vila-Nova within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The talks took place yesterday in Avaza on Turkmenistan's Caspian Sea coast, where an international forum is being held. The African leader arrived in Turkmenistan specifically to attend the conference.
The President of Sao Tome and Principe noted the importance of the international forum for the sustainable development of landlocked developing countries and their integration into global economic relations. He emphasized the importance of such events in addressing common challenges.
The head of Turkmenistan expressed the country's interest in developing cooperation with African states. President Berdimuhamedov advocated active interaction both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations, especially the UN.
The Turkmen side stressed that the country maintains friendly relations with foreign states on the basis of the legal status of neutrality, which has been recognized three times by the UN. During the meeting, the tourism potential of the island state of Sao Tome and Principe was noted.
Turkmenistan reaffirmed its readiness to provide support if there are concrete proposals to establish mutually beneficial cooperation. The leaders expressed confidence that the talks would create a basis for deepening bilateral relations and strengthening international cooperation.
