President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian, who arrived in the country to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader thanked his Armenian counterpart for participation in the international forum, which is held jointly with the UN and organized once in ten years. Khachaturian, in turn, expressed gratitude for the invitation and noted the high organizational level of the conference.
The Presidents noted the progressive development of bilateral cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and trust. In recent years, the relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new level, which is confirmed by regular mutual visits at the highest level.
The leaders paid special attention to trade and economic cooperation as an important area of interstate relations. The sides discussed the establishment of new areas of partnership and expansion of the range of export-import goods.
The Presidents also emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian partnership and noted the great potential for cooperation in the fields of science, education, culture and art.
At the end of the meeting the heads of state exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence in further successful development of interstate cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
