The 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence was celebrated in Tashkent

A festive event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in the capital of Uzbekistan. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

A solemn event entitled "Turkmen-Uzbek relations - at a new historical stage" was held in Tashkent on September 18. The organizers were the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, and the Turkmen National Cultural Center.

The celebration was attended by representatives of the Committee on Interethnic Relations, various national cultural centers, higher educational institutions, Turkmen and Uzbek students, as well as representatives of the media.

Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Uzbekistan Sh. Meredov, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations K. Sariyev, deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and head of the Turkmen National Cultural Center G. Avezdurdyeva made welcoming speeches.

In his speech, Ambassador Sh. Meredov emphasized Turkmenistan's significant achievements over the years of independence. He noted that bilateral relations between the countries have reached a qualitatively new level in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The event ended with a concert program with the participation of artists from the Turkmen National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan, the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan and other organizations. Turkmen folk dance "Kushtdepdi" attracted special attention of the audience.
