Turkmenistan joins global initiative to combat organized crime

Last Monday, the capital of Turkmenistan became the venue for the first ever event in the country's history to mark the World Day against Transnational Organized Crime. The initiative, based at Ashgabat School No. 21, combined the efforts of UNODC and USAID under the SMICA program.

The day's program opened with a video message by Gada Vali, Executive Director of UNODC, after which the baton was picked up by specialists from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office of Turkmenistan. An interactive session by the NGO "Yenme" on the issue of human trafficking was particularly resonant.

The organizers focused on involving the younger generation: schoolchildren not only participated in a thematic quiz with prizes, but also prepared a creative production. A lecture on mental health and digital safety added practical value to the event.

The day culminated with a colorful flash mob of UN volunteers under the slogan "Creative Solutions for a Safe World", which clearly demonstrated the importance of joint efforts in countering global threats.

The event became a unique platform for dialog between the younger generation, educators and representatives of government agencies, laying the foundation for further development of youth initiatives in the field of security.
