The Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology and MUGNiR hosted concerts of the Turkmen Folk Instruments Orchestra in honor of Ashgabat City Day. The events were reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
Musicians of the Turkmen State Special Music School named after D. Ovezov played works by Turkmen composers and folk compositions glorifying the beauty of the white-marble capital for the students of higher educational institutions.
The Şirwan Orchestra uses many national instruments, including dutar, gidzhak, tuyduk, dep, kanun, chang, ud, baglam. Some of them were introduced recently, which became possible thanks to the efforts of Turkmen ethnomusicologists. The musical group lives a rich creative life, participating in international and state musical competitions.
