Ashgabat, August 7 - Arzuw.news. Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, a meeting of women leaders was held on expanding their role in the implementation of the Avaza Action Program. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The Forum was organized by the UN Secretariat together with the Government of Turkmenistan and is aimed at implementing the Avazi Action Agenda for Landlocked Developing Countries 2024-2034 and achieving gender equality in these states.
The event was attended by leaders and representatives of parliaments of landlocked countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and public associations.
UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for organizing the forum and stressed the importance of investing in women's rights. Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for supporting the women of Central Asia.
Qatari State Secretary Maryam bint Ali Al-Misned noted the work of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation and its Vice President Oguljahan Atabayeva as an example of gender equality.
Oguljahan Atabayeva spoke about the activities of the Charity Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, which has financed more than 500 surgeries in four years.
Turkmenistan took the initiative to establish the first Central Asian Women's Dialogue in the region with the participation of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy and UNDP.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Outcome Document calling for the creation of conditions for gender equality and women's participation in the implementation of the Awazi Action Program.
