A forum of women leaders was held within the framework of the Third UN Conference

Ashgabat, August 8 - Arzuw.news. Yesterday, the capital of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting of women leaders on the theme "From Commitment to Change: Women as Drivers of the Avazi Action Program for Landlocked Developing Countries". The event was held in the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Forum was organized by the UN Secretariat together with the Government of Turkmenistan. Leaders and representatives of parliaments of landlocked developing countries, as well as representatives of international organizations took part in the work.

UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the high level of organization and noted the importance of the Avazi Action Programme for gender equality.

Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D. Gulmanova emphasized the development of cooperation of Turkmenistan under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people for supporting the women of Central Asia.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Maryam bint Ali Al-Misned noted the consolidation of efforts to address women's issues in landlocked developing countries. Vice President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Sevil Mikayilova emphasized the importance of expanding women's rights in decision-making.

Director of UNDP Regional Bureau Ivana Zivkovic confirmed the readiness of the organization to cooperate to strengthen the role of women. Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund, spoke about the Fund's activities on children's health.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Final Document. The participants expressed their gratitude to the Turkmen side for organizing the event.
