The Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan issued an order on introduction of new norms and rules for construction of individual cottage-type residential houses. This was reported by the TurkmenPortal online publication.
The new regulations include requirements for minimum living space, layout, ceiling heights, doorway sizes and stairways in relation to the construction of 1-3 story cottages regardless of the materials used.
The norms prescribe that the design must comply with the rules of free access to housing for people with disabilities. The new rules also concern natural light and thermal insulation. The introduced rules are harmonized with other construction norms, including urban planning and fire safety rules, as well as norms for low-mobility groups.
