An environmental training on methane emission reduction was held in Turkmenistan in a hybrid format. The event was organized by the UN Office in Turkmenistan jointly with UNEP. This was reported by the online publication "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age.
Participants were introduced to the activities of the IMEO International Observatory, which monitors greenhouse gas emissions on the planet.
UN economist V. Valetka spoke about ways to reduce methane emissions in Turkmenistan that would not require high material investment.
D. Shlapachenko, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, emphasized the country's high potential in low-cost reduction of methane emissions into the atmosphere. He noted that the country can play a key role in curbing the spread of greenhouse emissions on Earth and preventing global climate change.
