At the 51st meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul on June 22, the resolution "On the role of the policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development in the OIC area and around the world" was unanimously adopted.
The delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the work of the meeting, which was held on June 21-22. The representative of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of developing cooperation within the framework of the OIC and strengthening relations with all member states of the Organization.
The adopted resolution emphasizes the role of neutrality as a political and legal instrument for strengthening international and regional stability. The document is the result of Turkmenistan's active diplomatic work within the framework of international organizations.
At the initiative of Turkmenistan, a round table "Peace and Trust: Foundations of Unity and Sustainability in the Islamic World" was organized within the framework of the meeting. The event was attended by about 100 participants, including representatives of foreign policy departments of the OIC member states, international organizations, academic centers and the media.
The round table participants noted that Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality is an effective tool for peacekeeping and strengthening security on a regional and global scale.
The meeting discussed topical issues of political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and scientific orientation, including the strengthening of peace, security and sustainable development in the OIC member states.
It should be recalled that on Turkmenistan's initiative, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust".
