Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Iran discuss Middle East situation and bilateral cooperation

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi met with Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister yesterday in the framework of his official visit to Ashgabat.

The talks at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan covered a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation between the neighboring states. The diplomats paid special attention to the exchange of views on international and regional issues, including the current situation in the Middle East.

The Iranian minister expressed deep gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for brotherly solidarity with the Iranian people.

The Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of permanent neutrality recognized by the United Nations. Representatives of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan emphasized the rejection of the use of force in resolving political issues.

Ashgabat stated its readiness to promote the settlement of the Middle East situation through the negotiation process with all interested parties. Turkmenistan advocates the use of political and diplomatic mechanisms for peaceful resolution of conflicts on the basis of the UN Charter and norms of international law.

Following the meeting, Seyed Abbas Araqchi thanked the Turkmen side for its support and expressed his intention to continue the constructive political dialog between the two countries.
