Avaza, August 7 - Arzuw.news. The fifth high-level thematic round table within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The theme of the meeting was "Providing and mobilizing resources and strengthening global partnership for sustainable development in landlocked developing countries". The event was organized by the UN Secretariat together with the Government of Turkmenistan with the participation of heads and representatives of delegations of the participating countries.
In the course of the discussions, participants discussed the formation of innovative financing mechanisms and international partnerships for infrastructure development in landlocked developing countries. Special attention was paid to the role of remittances and the creation of an enabling environment to attract investment.
The experts noted that under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is implementing large-scale investment projects in energy, chemical industry, engineering, transport, construction and agriculture.
The participants emphasized the need to ensure sustainable economic growth through economic diversification, development of new industries, increasing labor productivity and creating a favorable investment climate.
Considerable attention was given to domestic resource mobilization, broadening the tax base and improving the efficiency of tax collection in landlocked developing countries. The importance of official development assistance and the possibility of substantially increasing it under the Awazi Agenda for Action was discussed.
Participants also emphasized the role of foreign direct investment and remittances in the economic and social development of landlocked countries.
At the end of the event, the participants expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader Hero Arkadag for the high level of organization of the meeting and hospitality.
