Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan meets with the High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilization

On September 23, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with UN Deputy Secretary General, High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. During the talks, the sides emphasized the importance of strengthening intercultural and interreligious dialogue in international relations. Turkmenistan reaffirmed its readiness to use the platform of the session to promote initiatives in the sphere of peace and confidence-building.

An initiative was put forward to implement joint projects with the UN Alliance of Civilizations, including in the Central Asian region. In particular, Turkmenistan's proposals on holding an international forum "Central Asia - Space for Building a Peaceful Life" and a Global Summit on the Culture of Peace under the auspices of UNESCO and the Alliance of Civilizations were discussed.

As a result of the meeting, the sides expressed their intention to develop cooperation in the mentioned directions to strengthen peace and mutual respect.
