A meeting to launch a regional project on migration was held in Ashgabat

Ashgabat's Archabil Hotel hosted an event dedicated to the official launch of the IOM regional project dedicated to assisting governments of the Central Asian region in implementing the Global Compact on Migration (GCM). This is reported on the official website of the State Migration Service.

The constructive nature of Turkmenistan's partnership with IOM was noted during the meeting. The participants of the event exchanged views on the objectives of the Global Compact on Safe and Orderly Migration and effective tools for the implementation of this agreement.

The GMR is an intergovernmental agreement that was drafted under the auspices of the UN and adopted at the 2018 Intergovernmental Conference on Migration in Morocco. The agreement includes 23 goals and a set of actions to achieve them, which are best practices.
