Flowers laid at the monument to the Turkmen poet in Tashkent

A ceremony of laying flowers at the monument of Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fraghi on Makhtumkuli Street in Tashkent today as part of the Friendship Week. This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

The participants of the solemn action were the head of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan Sh. Meredov, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan R. Kurbanov, Chairman of the Republican Turkmen Cultural Center G. Avezdurdyeva, members of the Union of Writers, representatives of universities and Turkmen Diaspora, as well as Uzbek journalists.

During the speeches, it was noted that the literary heritage of Makhtumkuli plays a special role in the cultural and humanitarian relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Today, the works of the Turkmen poet are translated into many languages of the world and enjoy great popularity.
