D. Gulmanova and M. Mecacci discussed the expansion of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE

Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova met with Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Matteo Mecacci in Ashgabat on November 9. This is reported on the official website website Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

Gulmanova praised the OSCE's support for legal reforms in Turkmenistan, especially in improving national legislation, the electoral system and deepening democratic processes.

Thus, on October 31 of this year, Ashgabat hosted the following event meeting Central Asian Foreign Ministers and OSCE Secretary General for Security and Development of the Region - Helga Schmid. The meeting discussed border security and transportation issues. The meeting participants put forward initiatives for further cooperation and reaffirmed their readiness to continue the dialog to ensure stability in the region.

Mr. Mecacci separately noted the important role of the policy of neutrality of Turkmenistan for ensuring peace and security in the region. 

The Parties emphasized the importance of further enhancing cooperation in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed the view that the OSCE activities make a valuable contribution to strengthening peace and security throughout the world. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in this area will be further expanded.
