On May 5 in Astrakhan there was a solemn ceremony of laying bouquets at the Eternal Flame in honor of the 77th anniversary of the Victory in WWII. Representatives of diplomatic missions from Turkmenistan, Iran, and Kazakhstan participated in the event.
The Turkmen side was represented by the country's consul in Russia, Huych Garayev. In his speech, he recalled the importance of preserving the memory of the tragic events and honoring the priceless feat of the soldiers of WWII, who defended their native land, freedom and a bright future.
The consul gave historical facts, stressing that more than 300,000 citizens of Turkmenistan went to the front, tens of thousands were killed and are missing, more than 130,000 citizens of Turkmenistan were awarded honorary medals and orders.
Garayev ended his speech with sincere wishes for a peaceful sky over his head and prosperity.
