President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid met on March 5. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The head of state expressed the country's commitment to strengthening cooperation with international organizations, in particular, with the OSCE. The Turkmen side also expressed confidence that the meeting at the level of environment ministers of Central Asian countries with the OSCE Secretary General would promote multilateral cooperation in the environmental sphere.
Turkmenistan's commitment to cooperation in this area is evidenced by the country's accession to the Global Methane Commitment and the initiative to establish a Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia. The energy sector was named a promising area of cooperation. The potential for co-operation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in the transportation sector was noted.
