A new diorama "Hunter" has appeared in the State Museum of Turkmenistan

The exposition of the ethnographic department of the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan was enriched with a new diorama "Hunter", which is dedicated to the native tradition of the Turkmen people, which has deep roots and unique specificity. This is reported in the daily newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".

The new diorama presents a figure of a male hunter, whose equipment and clothing are characteristic of the inhabitants of the Akhal oasis, located in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. The hunter is holding a khirli gun, one of the small arms of the 18th-19th century. In the man's other hand is a perde camouflage shield, which makes it easier to hunt partridges at a watering hole. Behind the hunter's belt there is a leather purse for shot, a measure for powder for one shot and an oiler. On the right side of the diorama is a small hut where the hunter traditionally waited for his prey.

Gun hunting among Turkmens of the 19th-early 20th century became widespread, gradually replacing falconry. It was of great importance in the life of the Turkmen people.
